The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. The trolley stopped close to the hotel and took us mist of the places we wanted to go.
Everything. It's a house between beautiful other houses in the Garden District. Not so busy, doesn't look like a hotel so you really feel in between the locals, welcome and at home. The rooms are very clean, good looking with old high ceilings and fresh colors. Big bathroom with a very good shower. Friendly staff. In 5 minutes you're on Bourbon St. With the local bus for only 5 dollars (for 4 persons!) And your car is safely parked for free. I will never forget this hotel, would recommend it to everybody! And while you're there? Take a look at James Cheese Company in the same street... Best cheese and sandwiches ever!
Breakfast. I understand it's not a big deal for the hotel, cause you are in the middle of the city and not far from all the restaurants. But still, it's nice to have at least something in the morning before you go... It was a little bit poor....
Perfect location in the Garden District; clean, continental breakfast was good, well-done rooms in old mansions. We had a room in the front of the building and had no problems with noise.
The hotel is in a nice 19th century house that has been broken into hotel rooms. My room was clean, comfortable and very atmospheric. I had a big fireplace in the bathroom, heart pine floors throught and 11' ceilings. It was fun to stay there.Plus there was a lockbox, micro wave, small frig, iron and hair drier. Well thought out accomodations.
My guest and I enjoyed the free parking, accommodations, cleanliness of the room, maid service when absent from our room , the age requirement (no one under 21) and finally the serenity of staying at this inn. We have absolutely zero complaints! Awesome, romantic, secluded & cozy hideaway in New Orleans. Staying at the inn was the best choice we made. We would definitely recommend this place to couples looking to enjoy New Orleans by day & peace by night.
Incidentals are required to be charged to a major credit card w/o the option to pay cash. The accommodations can; however, be paid by cash; but, suprisingly incidentals can not; although, we were informed otherwise before arriving at the inn. Breakfast could be more inviting with a full list of hot selections to choose from other than the limited selection of cold, continental choices offered.
good location in lower garden district. comfortable. big room
very nice boutique hotel. Continental breakfast included hot foods like waffles, oatmeal and grits so better than most.
I arrived at night. The company owns 3 properties in the same couple blocks. When I got there, the gates was closed and there was a sign that said go to the opposte end of the street to check in. But it didn't specify which end. A lighted sign and a "you are here" map would have helped. The hotel itself, however, was very nice.
This hotel provides an excellent value for the money. The rooms are really nice (even nicer than on the website), the location in the Garden District is good, the streetcar stop for the St. Charles line is just one block away. This makes The Prytania Oaks in my view a much better choice than one of the boring regular hotel chains.
Decent-sized room; well-appointed and clean.
Breakfast was quite disappointing - coffee, fruit juices, cereals and croissants/sticky buns...not much else. We stayed here towards the end of a touring holiday over several states and this was by far the poorest breakfast.
The Prytania Oaks is excellent value for money. The location is excellent, with the St. Charles streetcar only a couple of blocks away, making it really easy to get around New Orleans. The room was clean, cool and comfortable. We had our own balcony, and the fridge and microwave came in really handy. The staff are extremely helpful in assisting you to find restaurants, and in planning your activities. The neighbourhood is quiet and peaceful, but with plenty of excellent shops and restaurants closeby. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Enjoyed the building, the room and the courtyard. Location was good for our needs. The staff we met were real good.
That the check in was not at the same location.
It had friendly staff that were very accommodating!! The rooms were nice with large bathrooms/tubs/showers. Was air conditioned the entire time but no nasty smell (like some hotels have with their air conditioners). Excellent place to stay for the price.
Where to check in was a little confusing in relation to where we were staying. I think the fancy sign threw us off (where the rooms were instead of the check-in), so we had to walk over a block, wouldn't have been that big of a deal, but it was raining. I know I read about this in other reviews and thought that it wouldn't happen to us if we were aware, but it still happened...
Very nice room. Pleasant surroundings. Handy for the city.
A lot of door banging noise both late at night (midnight) and early in the morning (6.30 on). I was in Room 164 and although very comfortable it had a central air conditioning plant just outside which might bother some.
Room was very nice. Staff was helpful. Breakfast was at the location for the weekend (at the sister property just a block away during the week) and was quite good. Convenient to trolley, 2 block walk. Great overall value.
